Twitch Xbox 360 app will host official post #XboxReveal show
Microsoft’s latest addition to its growing Xbox 360 streaming video app library is now available for Xbox Live Gold members. It’s the official Twitch app that will give owners of Microsoft’s current game console in the US a way to check out streaming content from the game-oriented video service.
Twitch’s official press release states that the service, which launched in 2011 as an offshoot of Justin.tv, now has 34 milliion unique visitors a month. The press release adds, “With the new Twitch app for Xbox 360, gamers will be able to watch the top 300 live Twitch channels. Viewers will be able to browse videos by channel, by game and by featured content.”
While the app will allow people to view live streaming content from Twitch, the Xbox 360 version will not allow users to upload their own gaming videos to the service. It’s possible that such support could be added to Microsoft’s next Xbox console.
Speaking of which, Microsoft’s Larry Hryb has announced he will be hosting an exclusive show on Twitch just after the official #XboxReveal on May 21st starting at Noon Pacific time (3 pm Eastern time). Hryb states, “During the show I’ll be joined by some guests who will go into more detail about our #XboxReveal announcements.”
