How to recover/reset/restore any Nokia and Microsoft Phone
Did your Nokia or Microsoft headset just stopped working?
Are you stuck at the gears screen or the thunder with gears screen?
Now let us begin:
Before Microsoft bought Nokia, there was a private tool for stores and experts that allowed them to restore and update a phone to the newest production settings.
The software was called Nokia Software Updater for Retail or Nokia care suite, now that Microsoft owns the Nokia Devices and Services business, they allow anyone to restore their phone.
So what is the Lumia Software Recovery Tool?
Well this crafty little tool can help you to reset and recover your phone software at home, if your phone is experiencing software related or software update problems (Mostly with Windows Phone devices), but you can also use Lumia Software Recovery Tool to recover Asha and Series 40 phones that have USB interface, Series 30+ phones that have USB interface, Nokia X2 platform phones and Symbian phones in case that your phone is not responding, it appears to be stuck, or it is not starting.
Let’s get started!
So since this is a Microsoft software you will need a PC running Windows 7 or newer with at least 4GB of free storage. As you might guessed, you will also need the cable to plug your phone to the PC and a free USB port.
Step 1
Download and install Lumia Software Recovery Tool to your computer. If possible, make sure that your phone is fully charged.
Step 2
Start Lumia Software Recovery Tool, and connect your phone to your computer with a compatible USB cable.
If your phone is not starting, or it’s already stuck in the gears screen, you can recover your phone with “My phone does not start up or respond option” (only available for Windows Phone 8 models).
The software will give you instructions to put your phone in “Recovery Mode” and then will proceed to find the newest version of the operating system and install it accordingly.
Step 3
Follow the instructions shown on the tool. The latest version of your phone software will be installed, and your phone will restored back to the factory settings. This process may take some time depending on the size of the operating system that your phone needs and your internet connection, during this time you cannot use your phone, so just leave it there plugged onto the PC until everything is done.
You are done!
That’s it folks, if you followed the screen instructions by the letter, your phone should be fixed and ready to add your account.
